EMDR therapy for a range of Mental Health Concerns; trauma specific including Pain.
EMDR replicates sleep pattern via dual stimuli to help process and resolve disturbing and emotionally charged experiences much like what occurs during REM Sleep.
Grounding and relaxtion strategies are intergrated into the EMDR to help regulate and resource you for successful outcomes.
EMDR Pain protocal has proven to stimulate the CNS to create change in the pain response releasing built up tension and discomfort to facilitate permanent change.
EMDR is endorsed by World Health organisation, APS and APA.
Clinical Supervision for Allied Health Professionals / Social Workers
As a fully qualified and highly experienced Accredited Mental Health Social worker it is my honor to provide Clinical Supervisor to other clinicitians. During Supervision I will be drawing from the Clinical knowledge and from my extensive mental health practice experience to provide you with the best possible support that allows for desired professional and personal growth in a safe and self reflective space where you can freely exchange your thoughts, debrief , reflect and practice new skills.
Frequency of Supervision will be agreed prior to the commencement of Supervision. Clinical Supervision can be provided via Telehealth or in person. Usually Monthly reoccurring appointments are arranged with a degree of flexibility that allow for flexibility around holidays, family and work commitments. I ask that you commit up front to at least two sessions allowing for the opportunity to build rapport, and to collaboratively formulate a Supervision Plan based on your clinical needs, wishes and topics.
Mental Health Support for First Responder
Individual therapy provides special consideration to the unique challenges and needs of our service men and women who are experiencing highly complex and confronting situations, involving ongoing exposure to critical incidents. The prolonged stress can over time builds up placing Emergency workers at higher risk of developing trauma symptoms; hyper vigilance, avoidance stemming from triggers, flashbacks, sleep and as well as changes in mood and cognition burdensome and interfering to ones relationships.
PTSD and Compassion Fatigue are commonly experienced by our first Responders. However, positve outcomes can be achieved through psychological therapies such as Trauma Focussed CBT (cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and EMDR in combination with other physical, relaxation / mindfulness and self help strategies. Medications can also be prescribed by doctors to help alleviate PTSD symptoms.
